Rain Chain Press

Since 2013 I have been Design & Associate Editor with Rain Chain Press, an independent small publishing house.

I guide books from submission to publication, including selections; editing and proofreading of manuscripts; layout, book and cover design; working closely with authors, printers and distributors; writing publicity materials; and organizing rollouts and launch events.

I also oversee legal aspects of publication,
including contract writing and copyright management, and I manage Rain Chain Press's website and social media presence.

The Florida Book Review

Since 2007 I have been a contributing editor and webmaster at The Florida Book Review. I have written reviews of children's, travel, history, food and environment books about Florida.

My most recent review, of Lynne Buchanan's Florida's Changing Waters, is available on the Florida Book Review website.

I have also worked as a staff reporter for FBR's annual coverage of the Miami Book Fair International since 2008. The most recent coverage, of MBFI 2021, is now available online.

From 2009 to 2014 I was a teaching artist at Summer Festival of the Arts, an arts summer camp in Maine, where I taught courses to students from grades 3 through 9 in writing, publications, theater and media arts. I was also executive editor of SFOA's annual art and literary magazine, The Cymbal.

Presentations

In April 2013, I spoke about my experience working with the Mount Holyoke pyxis for the Amherst Explorations 2013 Lightning Talks, held at Amherst College's Frost Library. For more information on the project, see my Greek page.

In March 2013, I gave a presentation on Gendered and Non-Gendered Pronouns in World Languages at the Five College Queer Gender & Sexuality Conference at Hampshire College. I also wrote on this topic in "Pronoun Troubles: Not Just in English" for The Amherst Student.

If you're interested in having me speak about my work in Greek, Sumerian, archaeology or gendered language, you can reach me via my contact form.
